The competitions were held in three stages and consisted of tasks similar to those that volunteers of search organizations have to deal, the crews of medical and rescue helicopters and aimed at strengthening the interaction between doctors, airmen, aviation companies and non-commercial search and rescue structures.
Five teams took part in the competition: HeliMed Helicopter Medical Operator, International Helicopter Sports Academy, Nizhny Novgorod Territorial Disaster Medicine Center, Central Aviation Search and Rescue Center, and amateur pilot team Maxim Zamotin.
The teams competed on foreign-made helicopters Robinson 44 and BO 105, as well as on the new Russian Ansat helicopter with a medical module. This helicopter at the opening ceremony of the competition was handed over by the representative of the Russian Helicopters Holding Company to the Russian Helicopter Systems Company. The battle was "baptism of fire" and will soon be redeployed to the Kurgan region to carry out medical evacuation work. Deliveries of such helicopters began in the regions of Russia under the state program "Development of Ambulance Aviation", and the "The Mil Cup" will give an opportunity to get acquainted with the specifications and capabilities of the new helicopter, seeing it not in the exhibition area, but in action.
As part of the first stage of “the Mil Cup" competitions, the participants had to solve the navigation tasks, carrying out the search and evacuation of the conditioned victim. The second stage included rendering first aid to the victim who was in an emergency situation. Volunteers acted as victims. Medical evacuation of the injured is the third stage of the competition, where a special dummy simulating the victim was used and a container filled with water, allowing to assess the delicacy of this responsible process. At all stages of the competition is very important teamwork of the team of aviators and medical personnel - in real life this directly depends on people's lives.
The judges of “the Mil Cup" included professionals, both from the aviation field and from the medical field. Among the guests are the first persons of branch companies, representatives of regional and federal authorities, rescue agencies and emergency services, specialists from aviation and health.
Visitors to the competitions not only saw the helicopter equipment and air medical personnel in action, but also were able to get first-hand information about the prospects and current state of ambulance aviation in the country, to communicate with the participants, as well as to take comments from the responsible persons.
During the competition, all teams showed knowledge, skill, coordination of actions in an emergency situation. "The Mil Cup" demonstrated not only the need for further development of ambulance aviation, but also the importance of involving in the process amateurs and activists of voluntary search and rescue teams, the high role of acquaintance of air medical brigades with new medical and aviation equipment.
All teams received memorable gifts and certificates of participants. Prizewinners of the competitions were awarded valuable gifts from the holding company Russian Helicopters. Prize places on the results of the competitions were distributed as follows:
1st place - International Academy of Helicopter Sport (Sotnikov Maxim, Puodjukas Oleg, Rusanov Anton, Alexander Rezchikov);
2nd place - Nizhegorodsky territorial center of medicine of catastrophes (Saburov Oleg, Razorenov Sergey, Gorbunov Roman, Yanin Roman);
3rd place - HeliMed Medical Air Service (Khoroshaylo Andrey, Miftakhov Ruslan, Novikov Dmitry, Filippova Tatiana).
The Challenge Cup for the first stage "Navigation" was awarded to the crew of the International Helicopter Academy team - Maxim Sotnikov and Oleg Puodzhukas.
The Mil Cup - an entertaining and spectacular event, which is held since 2003. The organizer is the company Russian Helicopter Systems, the general sponsor of the competition is the holding company "Russian Helicopters". The event is supported by the Helicopter Industry Association and the helicopter search and rescue team "Angel".
