The history of flights from the main city of Russia to the capital of Japan began on April 17, 1967: the first flight was on a Tu-114 aircraft and lasted for more than ten and a half hours, in the joint operation of both JAL airlines and Aeroflot with an international crew: five flight attendants from JAL and five from Aeroflot. The maintenance of the flight was divided equally, but depending on the direction of the flight.
On the route Tokyo-Moscow, the responsibility for the quality of service was assigned to the brigade of Japanese flight attendants, and in the flight from Moscow to Tokyo Aeroflot brigades took the responsibilities. Joint work on flights helped flight attendants to exchange interesting professional experience. The flight took 10 hours 35 minutes.
Half a century later, Japan Airlines completed a jubilee flight from Domodedovo airport on the ultra-modern comfortable Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Passengers were brought comfortably from Moscow to Tokyo in less than nine hours.
«Together with our long-time partner-airline, Japan Airlines, we marked a significant date, primarily in the history of air communication between the two states. It is noteworthy that solemn events in honour of the half-century anniversary of the Moscow-Tokyo route were held on the eve of Japan's year in Russia. I believe that the fruitful cooperation between Domodedovo airport and Japan Airlines contributes to the preservation and development of cultural and diplomatic relations between the two countries», - said Alexei Raevsky, the Deputy Director for Commerce of Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Cooperation between Domodedovo airport and Japan Airlines began in 2007. During this time 412 thousand people were served on the jubilee route. Almost ten years, Domodedovo and Japan Airlines provide a high level of service for travellers, which confirms the steadily growing passenger flow. The last five years show that the number of people choosing the best airport of Russia and the flagship carrier of Japan increases by an average of 10% per year.
