This competition was announced in March 2017 and was conducted jointly with the website TUT.BY. As you know, pilots and flight attendants are the face of the airline, form and maintain its image, so the main requirements for the new uniform of employees were aesthetic and comfortable design that would reflect not only the overall style of the Belavia brand, but also emphasised the individuality of the employees. The design of the current uniform of flight personnel of the airline was developed in 2012 by the chief art director of the OJSC "Fashion Center". The uniform was put into operation in 2013.
Among the contest participants were both professional designers and newcomers, who for the first time decided to try their hand at a competition of this kind. A total of 28 works were sent to the contest. 15 of which met the requirements of the competition and were selected and presented on the TUT.BY website. Then, by means of a custom vote, 5 finalists were selected.
The top five designers included Evgenia Gevorkyan, Maria Epanchintseva, Olga Chernova and Violetta Piskareva, Lyubov Belyaeva, Giorgio Carradi and Clarice Fiume, Daria Solovyova. The best among the finalists was determined by a professional jury, which included representatives of the airline, PR-manager of TUT.BY Maria Vasilyeva and also Minsk restaurateur Vadim Prokopiev.
«When we started working on the new uniform, we wanted not only to pay our respects to the fashion, but to present a design that would reflect the company's basic principles: dynamism, efficiency and reliability. Designers actively participated in the competition and demonstrated their vision of the uniform of the flight crew. In our opinion, the cooperation of such a plan has allowed us to keep pace with the times, and young designers to demonstrate their potential. We are very satisfied with the activity of the participants and the results of the competition, and we are planning to continue to actively involve the Belarusians in the development of the airline,», - said the Acting General Director of Belavia Gleb Parhamovich.
The winner of the contest was the team of the brand of women's clothing and footwear MUA in the person of its founder, Daria Solovieva. The concept of the future uniform, presented by the author, not only reflects the modern spirit of the brand, but also meets the requirements and functional characteristics of flight personnel. The concept of the winner became a logical continuation of the external change of the airline. The design includes all shades of the sky: grey, blue spring, cornflower blue and air white.
«Participation in the competition for the development of the uniform became a colossal experience and a test for strength for the team of the MUA brand. The competition was very tough: to dress people who will become the face of the country. After all, flight personnel and their image is an open and the most honest PR campaign. And it is very important that the competition became public and allowed everyone to contribute to the development of Belavia's image, and, consequently, of our country. Today's victory in the contest is a great joy and result of serious work not only for the MUA team, but for all Belavia employees who have made a brilliant project worthy of continuation in the person of other Belarusian companies,» - said Daria Solovieva, the founder of the MUA brand.
Based on the chosen concept, a complete set of clothes for flight and cabin crews will be developed. In general, the flight attendant and pilot uniform should include more than 40 items, including a jacket, vest, blouse / shirt, skirt / trousers, cap, apron, neck scarf, etc. For the winter season, a coat and a hat are provided, for a summer coat there is a raincoat. The ceremony of announcing the winner of the contest was organised in the style of a fashion show, with a colourful show.
