MAKS is one of the five largest air shows in the world. In 2019, 827 companies confirmed their participation in it, including 184 foreign companies from 33 countries of the world. The largest exposition is deployed by enterprises of the People's Republic of China - the partner country of MAKS-2019. Nine more national pavilions will also be presented. For the first time, the Aviation Regions of Russia section was organised, within the framework of which collective expositions will be presented by the Samara and Ulyanovsk Regions, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Perm Territory. In total, about 26.5 thousand square meters are reserved for the exhibition space, 45 thousand square meters in open areas and static display. Also, for the first time in a separate pavilion, expositions of unmanned aerial systems and general aviation are allocated.
Flight program
Traditionally, the MAKS air show presents a spectacular flight program. In a static display and in a flight display, 210 aircraft will be presented, including the latest civil and combat aircraft and helicopters and historic aircraft. The best domestic aircraft - military and civilian - will rise into the sky. The aerobatic teams “Russian Knights”, “Falcons of Russia”, “Swifts”, “Rus”, “Hummingbirds”, “First Flight”, ANBO, Baltic Bees Jet Team will show their skills. For the first time, the program “Air Combat with Elements of Super-Maneuverability” will be presented, carried out by two Su-30SM fighters of the naval aviation of the Russian Navy. A demonstration of aircraft of foreign manufacturers is planned. General aviation aircraft will also be presented.
Business
The salon organizers aim to transform MAKS into a large-scale business event - the centre of business activity. During the days of the air show, about 80 conferences and round tables, press conferences and presentations will be held both at the press centre and congress сentrу, as well as at the stands and chalets of the exhibition participants. Among the largest events of the business program: Third Eurasian Aerospace Congress; Conference "Aviation Clusters of Russia and Europe; Round Table" Integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the Civil Aviation of Russia "; Forum "Russian-Chinese cooperation", a seminar on the quality of supplies for suppliers of the Aviation complex of the State Corporation "Rostec"; Conference "Unmanned Aircraft - From the Present to the Future."
Leading research institutes of Russia have organised scientific and practical conferences, including the section «Scientific tasks of NTsMU "SVERZVUK", session "National project" SCIENCE for solving state and scientific and technical problems", All-Russian scientific and technical conference" Materials and technologies of a new generation for promising products of aviation and space technology "and the International scientific and practical conference" Perspective directions for the development of onboard equipment for civil aircraft”.
Airshow participants haven’t disclosed information about planned signing of contracts yet. At the moment, it is known that during the airshow Novikombank plans to sign a number of agreements on financing aviation industry enterprises totalling about 50 billion rubles. Business negotiations will be held with existing and potential customers. Also, according to information from unofficial sources, it is possible to sign a contract for the Be-200 aircraft. It is also planned to sign a number of agreements related to the implementation of the digital transformation strategy of the UAC business.
The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will provide a 20-year overview of the global aviation market, which analyses the state of the modern aircraft fleet, firm orders, forecasted demand for new commercial aircraft and the corresponding market capacity for each of the world regions, as well as separately for Russia, China and India.
World premieres
Russian Helicopters will show for the first time during flight an average Ka-62 multi-purpose helicopter, the first production model of the Mi-38 with a superior cabin. Ansat helicopter will be on display with the VVIP cabin, developed in partnership with Aurus limousine developer. Among the new products will be presented VRT-300 UAV and multi-purpose helicopter VRT-500, designed to solve the problems of urban air mobility. In the military sector - the new Mi-26T2V, Mi-38T, a multi-purpose helicopter of the Mi-171 family with a complex of guided weapons (KUV).
During MAKS-2019, visitors will be able to see the IL-78M-90A convertible refuelling aircraft - this is the first aircraft of this type built in the country in the post-Soviet period. In demonstration flights, among other aircraft, the 5th generation Su-57 aviation complex will take part. In addition, it will be shown for the first time to visitors to the salon in a static parking lot.
But the main world premiere will be the mid-range passenger aircraft MS-21-300. The “21st Century Aircraft” will take part in the flight program, and visitors to the MAKS-2019 will also be able to see the MC-21-300 in the statistical parking lot. The family of aircraft includes two models: MC-21-300 with a capacity of 181 passengers and MC-21-200 with 150 passengers. At the moment, the portfolio of solid orders for the medium-range MS-21 aircraft is 175 aircraft worth $14.87 billion, in addition, another 98 aircraft have been contracted as part of an agreement of intent. Among the largest customers is Aeroflot airline, which has entered into a firm contract with 50 airliners and an option for another 35 cars. The start of mass production is scheduled for 2021.
Foreign guests
Despite the sanctions, the world's largest developers and manufacturers of aviation equipment will work very actively at MAKS-2019 - more than 2 thousand specialists will become participants in the events of the business program.
At the International Aviation and Space Salon, Boeing will announce new strategic initiatives and sign agreements with Russian partners. The interactive exposition will present a line of the latest aircraft, as well as a model of the supersonic aircraft Aerion AS2 Supersonic. Using virtual reality technology, visitors to the exposition will be able to take an interactive tour of Boeing aircraft.
The company will also take part in the Future Hub section, where it is planned to hold events aimed at attracting the attention of talented young specialists to the aerospace industry. The company’s specialists will also conduct master classes and interactive educational games for university students as part of the joint program Boeing and the public organization Junior Achievement Russia (“Achievements of the Young”) “Aviation from A to Z”.
Airbus at the International Aviation and Space Salon will demonstrate its latest developments and projects implemented in Russia. The key exhibit - the long-range aircraft A350-900 in carbon livery - will be presented at a static exposition, and the aircraft will take part in the flight program. The passenger compartment is installed on the plane, as well as some elements of the latest Airbus Connected Experience solution, which will increase the level of comfort for air travellers and improve the interaction between the crew and passengers during the flight.
The main theme of the Airbus booth will be the 50th anniversary that the company celebrates in 2019. The exposition will include large-scale models of A321LR and A350-1000 aircraft, products of the space division for observing the Earth’s surface and an interactive zone devoted to the company's new services, including the Skywise data collection and processing platform. Also, Airbus will show the full range of the company in Russia. For the first time, the Airbus Defence and Space division will demonstrate space equipment manufactured by a joint venture between Airbus DS and Russian Space Systems, and the Airbus Engineering Centre in Moscow ECAR will talk about ongoing projects.
The newest short-range airliner Embraer E195-E2 will be presented for the first time to the general public in Russia during the days of the International Aviation and Space Salon. The aircraft will be shown in a static parking lot. The liner has a Tech Lion color, symbolizing the technological effectiveness and innovativeness of the aircraft. This livery continues the earlier tradition of using themes of predatory animals such as a tiger, shark and eagle, reflecting the positioning of the new Embraer family of liners as “profit hunters”.
The Pilatus RS-24 jet business jet will be presented at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019 in a static parking lot and in the demonstration flight program. Among the specific features of the aircraft is the ability to fly from short runways, including unpaved. At the same time, the RS-24 has a significantly higher cruising speed than the Pilatus RS-12NG turboprop comparable in size.
The New partner
The largest exhibition among foreign guests will unfold in the People's Republic of China. This year, the country became an official partner of the air show. For the first time in the history of MAKS air shows, the products of China will be presented in a separate national pavilion.
The focus will be on the layout of the promising Russian-Chinese wide-body long-range CR (China-Russia) 929 aircraft. Visitors will be shown a cockpit, cabin fragments for the economy, business and first class.
Also, the first Chinese main passenger plane C919 with a capacity of 158 economy class seats and a flight range of up to 5.5 thousand km will take part in the air show. In total, the manufacturing company COMAC plans to sell at least 2 thousand airliners in the future. The total number of orders for the purchase of C919 passenger aircraft has already reached 815 units.
To reflect «all the achievements of the aviation and aerospace industry», colleagues from China will demonstrate their achievements in the field of unmanned aviation.
To the visitors
According to tradition, the first three days of the airshow (from August 27th to 29th) will be given to the business program. The most striking part of the air show will be the days of mass visits - from August 30th to September 1st. It is on these days that the most complete flight program and many other interesting events are planned.
This year you can also visit MAKS by helicopter. Flights will take place along the Helipark Podushkino - MAKS-2019 route and vice versa. More than six flights a day are planned with departure from Moscow in the morning before the start of the flight program and after its completion. From the place of boarding to the exhibition complex, a minibus will deliver passengers.
Similarly, passenger delivery from the exhibition complex will be organised: from the special check-in counter located near the Priority zone on the territory of the MAKS-2019 air show, minibuses will run to the helicopter landing site. The flight time will be 15-20 minutes. Daily flights will be operated by Ansat helicopters.
The traditional ways of arriving at the air show of visitors remain unnamed. By car to one and the parking lots (the scheme of car parking on the air show website) and then by shuttles to the territory of the cabin. Or by train to the Rest station, from where buses - shuttles to the air show will also regularly depart.
