Bogatyryova began with the discovery of the sculpture by A.S. Pushkin Terminal E.
The author of the sculpture was the People’s Artist of Russia, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Nikolaevich Burganov. The image of A.S. Pushkin occupies a special place in the works of A.N. Burganov, who is the author of a number of monuments to the poet. Among them are the “Monument to Alexander Pushkin and Natalia Goncharova” on the Old Arbat in Moscow and the “Russian poet Alexander Pushkin” in Washington.

The image of the great Russian poet, plots and characters of his remarkable works formed the basis of the multimedia concept "Literary Lounge". Sheremetyevo Airport together with a partner has created a digital space of classic literature, free and available for all categories of passengers. The partner in the digital literary space in MASH is the Audiobook Publishing House (ACT Publishing Group). The Catalog of the audiobook publishers has about 2500 audio books of various genres and directions, read only by professional actors, stars of the theatre and cinema.
In the business lounges, lounges for passengers with limited mobility, and mother and child rooms, mini-libraries of works by A.S. Pushkin in several languages (English, French, Spanish, German).
The image, milestones from the biography and artistic creativity of the poet will find a worthy embodiment at Sheremetyevo airport thanks to modern technological means and creative formats at the airport. To implement the actual image tasks, a special corporate style has been developed.
Assigning the airport to them. A.S. Pushkin will receive a diverse embodiment on the media infrastructure media:
- branded signs on the entrance groups of passenger terminals;
- welcome banners at airport terminals;
- video content with characters from works and tales of A.S. Pushkin on media systems inside the terminals;
- a special section on the site and in the mobile application;
- boarding passes.
Restaurants, cafes and other enterprises associated with the service area at the airport have joined the «A.S. Pushkin Friends Club in Sheremetyevo» and placed thematic images on various carriers using their own communication formats with passengers and customers.
State Museum A.S. Pushkin presented the public exhibition "Moscow and Pushkin." The exposition includes 16 reproductions of historical views of Moscow of the Pushkin era, complemented by the memoirs of contemporaries and excerpts from the works of the poet. Passengers and guests of the airport are given the opportunity to look at the capital through the eyes of the poet.
The artists of the Maly Theater gave artistic execution of excerpts from the story «The Snowstorm» and the novel in verse «Eugene Onegin» to show the atmosphere and the spirit of creativity of A.S. Pushkin. Along with the professional actors, the finalists of the international competition «Russian word - music of the soul» - foreign students of the State Institute of the Russian Language named after. A.S. Pushkin, who has been teaching Russian for over 50 years and a partner of new educational and educational projects of Sheremetyevo, took part in art recitation.
Students performed a statement based on «The Young Lady and Peasant Woman», read the writer's favourite works.
The name of the great poet Alexander Pushkin was assigned to Sheremetyevo International Airport in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 246 «On the assignment to airports of names of persons with special services to the Motherland» dated May 31, 2019.
According to planned data, Sheremetyevo International Airport will serve in 2019 more than 50 million passengers, of which more than 2.5 million children.
In December 2018, the first stage of the public initiative to assign the names of great compatriots to the largest passenger traffic in Russia’s airports, the Great Names of Russia competition, was completed. More than 6.2 million people took part in the competition, according to a VTsIOM study, more than 75% of citizens of the regions in which voting was organised were aware of the initiative, more than 50% of those polled supported it.
The organisers of the contest «The Great Names of Russia» were the Society of Russian Literature, the Russian Geographical Society, the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military Historical Society. The competition operator was the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. Partners of the contest: Russian Railways, Aeroflot, Mail.ru Group, Russian Post, Sberank, Rostelecom.
The national competition was held from October 11 to December 23, 2018. The main stages included the compilation of regional proposals on the basis of public discussions in public chambers of the Russian Federation, the formation of expanded regional lists, a sociological survey of VTsIOM and the formation of shortlists, as well as the all-Russian final vote. It passed through a special website of the great velikiyeimena.rf, via the hotline, at the project’s volunteer sites and on board the aircraft of Aeroflot.
Participants of the Victory Volunteers public movement took an active part in the project. Volunteers completely took upon themselves the organisation and conduct of a survey during the two rounds of the final vote. Volunteer teams were created to organise more than 400 mobile stations for voting in the cities of the project. The functions of the volunteers included: informing people about the competition, assistance in conducting a survey, supporting the work of public receptions. Victory Volunteers also took on a huge amount of work on processing the results of the survey. In addition, they organised and conducted a number of large-scale events aimed at popularising the project «Great Names of Russia»: the all-Russian photo-action of the same name, the intellectual and entertaining game «RISK», etc. In total, «the Great Names of Russia» project involved 10 thousand volunteers who have received special training in history and local lore.
During the voting, vivid rivalry between cities for individual names was noted. It prompted the expert council of the competition, which included representatives of the cultural and museum community, after conducting expert consultations to decide on a second round of voting at five airports: Arkhangelsk, Moscow (Vnukovo), Nizhnevartovsk, Penza, St. Petersburg.
The final list of winners (46 names) includes representatives of different eras and occupations, including: 14 representatives of culture, 9 scientists and engineers, 7 pilots and cosmonauts, 7 government and public figures, 6 discoverers and researchers, 3 military leaders and military heroes .
The practice of assigning the names of prominent figures to individual geographic objects, including airports, seaports and railway stations, was approved by decree of November 28, 2018 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Government of the Russian Federation by Resolution No. 245 dated March 7, 2019 approved the procedure for assigning the names of prominent figures to individual geographic objects. May 31, 2019 signed a decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the assignment to airports of the names of persons with special services to the Fatherland.
In a number of regions, public discussions on the results of the competition continued after its formal completion. In particular, the organisers of the competition received appeals from the public chambers of St. Petersburg and Volgograd with a request to suspend the participation of these regions in the project in order to avoid polarisation of public sentiment in the regions. Following the consideration of these appeals, Volgograd and St. Petersburg were temporarily removed from the project’s perimeter, the international airports of Pulkovo and Gumrak were not included in the list of airports fixed in the Decree of the President of Russia.
