Aeroflot Received The 50th SuperJet 100
Tuesday September 25, 2018 23:57 MSK / Roman Gusarov
Aeroflot has received the 50th Russian aircraft SuperJet 100 (SSJ100). This event marks a successful outcome of the execution of two solid contracts for the supply of 30 and 20 SSJ100 aircraft.

The aircraft with the number RA-89115 was given the name of the Russian painter, the master of the landscape Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov. The solemn presentation of the jubilee aircraft with the participation of Aeroflot management and the United Aircraft Corporation took place today at Sheremetyevo.

Vitaly Saveliev, the General Director of PJSC Aeroflot: Today is a historic day for Aeroflot. Those contracts that were concluded earlier are now accomplished in full, and we solemnly accept the "jubilee" 50th SuperJet 100 in our fleet. But our plans to acquire new Russian aircraft do not stop. You know that we signed a contract for the acquisition of 50 MC-21 aircraft, and recently, at the Eastern Economic Forum, in the presence of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we signed an unprecedential agreement on the purchase of another 100 SuperJet 100 aircraft. We will receive these aircraft within the next 5 years. With this in mind, the fleet of Russian-made aircraft of the Aeroflot Group will be brought up to 200 units - this is an essential part of the aircraft fleet of the airline. I would especially like to thank the leadership and all employees of the United Aircraft Corporation engaged in this project for effective cooperation. From the very beginning, together with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, our company participated in the development of this absolutely new machine. Aeroflot put the SuperJet 100 into the operation, was engaged in its development in the course of commercial operation.

Aeroflot was the first airline to conclude an agreement on the purchase of SSJ100 aircraft at the stage of development of the aircraft. The first contract for the supply of 30 aircraft was signed on December 7th, 2005. The flight of the first experimental SSJ100 took place on May 18, 2008. On June 16th, 2011 the first SSJ100 in the fleet of Aeroflot made a debut flight on the route Moscow - St. Petersburg. In 2016, PJSC Aeroflot and JSC SCAC announced the execution of this contract. In January 2015, an agreement was signed on the intention to purchase another 20 aircraft, and on July 18th, 2017, a firm contract was signed, which was fully executed today - September 25th, 2018. Most recently, September 10th, 2018, within the framework of the Far East Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Aeroflot signed an agreement for the delivery of another 100 SSJ100 aircraft, which are going to be delivered to the fleet of the airline until 2026.

Alexander Rubtsov, President of JSC "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft": Aeroflot had a great influence on the development of the SSJ100 project. Cooperation of JSC SCAC with the national carrier and the largest airline of Russia is an invaluable experience, especially significant at the stage of commissioning a new type of aircraft into operation. Continuation of joint work, as well as the increase in the fleet of the airline through SSJ100 aircraft is a high assessment of the results of our activities and a sign that in our development we are on the right track. We value our cooperation and increase the operational reliability of the SSJ100. For its part, in order to improve the after-sales service, the SCAC is working on creating new spare parts warehouses and filling existing warehouse capacities. The contract signed at the Far Eastern Economic Forum on the delivery of another 100 SuperJet 100 aircraft to Aeroflot for Sukhoi Civil Aircraft and our industry as a whole is an exceptionally important order that allows us to form our production base for the next 6 years, taking into account other contracts. And this, in turn, will save jobs not only at the plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, but also many other enterprises of our aviation industry. It is no secret that in the new aircraft of Aeroflot, the share of Russian components will be significantly increased. This is one of the tasks that faces us, and we intend to implement it as early as 2020. I would like to once again thank our customers. Aeroflot in its strategy relies on the production SupeJjet 100 and MC-21 aircraft of the new generation by the United Aircraft Corporation. For our industry this is a very important, essential order, and the 50th Superjet, transferred today, is an important historical milestone for the development of the domestic aviation industry.

Aeroflot has the youngest fleet of aircraft among the largest airlines in the world, which average age is only 4 years.
