The jet has visited Moscow in honor of the 40th anniversary of Lufthansa’s start up in Russia.

The liner has landed at Vnukovo airport on March 23rd 2012 at 14-00 Moscow time. Chairman of the board of Vnukovo International Airport, Vitaly Vantsev, CEO of Vnukovo Airport, Vasiliy Aleksandrov, Regional Director of Lufthansa in Russia and CIS Region, Ronald Schulz, and Director of Lufthansa on Corporate communications in Europe - Aage Duenhaupt, have taken part in the event.

Journalists and spotters had a unique chance to see the landing of gigantic double-deck aircraft, board the jet and capture it using photographic and video cameras.

“The arrival of А-380 symbolizes the coming of Lufthansa to Vnukovo airport”, — Vasiliy Aleksandrov said. He noted that after the announcement of partnership between Vnukovo and Lufthansa, which has taken place at Terminal A three months ago, the presentation’s sign has remained the same – the terminal is still under construction.

«It is an important milestone for Lufthansa and perfect chance to celebrate the 40th anniversary of flights between Germany and Russia», — Ronald Schulz said in his welcome speech.

Aage Duenhaupt in his own turn underlined that they wanted to demonstrate this jet specifically at Vnukovo airport.

In the end of the event the guests had an excursion on board of the jet. Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 has 526 seats. The brand new absolutely unique first class cabin has eight seats at the upper deck. It provides the highest level of comfort to the passengers thanks to some technical innovations implemented during development of the cabin. The business class cabin with 98 seats, which has already won many awards, is also located at the upper deck. The economy class cabin located at the main deck has 420 seats, which give passengers more space and comfort.

The special jet bridge intended for Airbus А380 is currently being constructed at Vnukovo airport. It will have two sleeves at the first level and one sleeve – on the second. It is planned to start servicing А380s in 2013, the airport noted. It was reported earlier that the hangar for A380 will be constructed at the Vnukovo’s territory.

The Lufthansa’s A380 took off to Germany in the evening.
